Finally!, Netflix decided to announce the release date of the second season of one of the most successful series over the past year on the streaming platform: The Umbrella Academy, an adaptation of the comic series created and written by Gerard Way with cartoonist Gabriel Ba.
The Umbrella Academy follows the story of a family of superheroes who join forces to solve the mystery of their father’s murder. It gained great popularity on Netflix, as it was the third most-viewed series on the platform worldwide in 2019, so the production of the second season was immediate.
The second season will consist of 10 chapters and will premiere on July 31, 2020, so go preparing the marathon to remember everything that happened in the previous episodes, before it premieres.
Through a video shared on Netflix social networks, the company announced the release date of the second season with the help of the actors of the series.
In the clip, Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min appear from their homes, dancing and parodying the coronavirus quarantine moments, while the song plays in the background (so ad hoc to these times) “I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tiffany.
At the end of the video, one of the actors lifts a poster with the number two and then the Netflix ad appears.
