Lionel Messi goes to Inter? Giuseppe Marotta: That's just fantasy

Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta said he was not at all interested in attracting Lionel Messi. Therefore if anyone connects the Nerazzurri with Messi it’s only fantasy.

Messi, who is predicted as the greatest footballer in the world, has been undergoing a chaotic season in Barcelona. The Spanish LaLiga title was unsuccessful after losing out to Real Madrid. Previously he was accused of being the mastermind behind the sacking of Ernesto Valverde as head coach.

The emergence of rumors of the departure of Messi to Inter could not be separated from the news that mentioned Messi’s father had bought a house in Milan. This is what triggers the optimism of supporters of Inter if La Pulga will move closer to Inter.

When this was done on Marotta, the Inter official said that this was not the case. “We talk about fantasy football. Bringing Messi is not our goal at all. There are no negotiations and I think he is focused on continuing his career in Barcelona,” he told Sky Sport Italia on Sunday (07/26/2020). The same thing was said by coach Antonio Conte

Barcelona said they have one priority at this summer’s bourse. Before a busy second leg of the last 16 round of the Champions League against Napoli, El Azulgrana wants to complete the negotiation of the new Marc-Andre Ter Stegen contract.

The German goalkeeper’s tenure was actually only finished in 2022. But, Barcelona wants to use his services even longer. Discussions with the 28-year-old player were held some time ago. But, it must be delayed because of a financial crisis due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, the extension of Ter Stegen’s contract remains the main agenda of Barcelona. The management reportedly wants to speed up negotiations so that they can immediately get a guarantee from the former Borussia Monchengladbach player to continue to survive at Camp Nou.

Barcelona does not want to lose players with a market price of 72 million euros because its performance is considered satisfactory. Over the past four seasons, Ter Stegen, which was bought for 12 million on May 19, 2014, has always been the first choice, whoever the coach is.

Ter Stegen has proven his capacity as one of the best goalkeepers in the world by performing several brilliant saves so that Barcelona avoid negative results. His ability has been recognized by being runner-up Best Goalkeeper in the World in 2019.

After Ter Stegen officially added his tenure, then Barcelona can focus fully on entertaining Napoli at Camp Nou on 9 August. Lionel Messi et al only need 0-0 results to qualify for the quarter-finals because in the first leg at the Stadio San Paolo drew 1-1.
