James Rodriguez is likely to remain in Madrid. But, not with Real Madrid but crossing to Atletico Madrid.
There are a number of English Premier League clubs chasing him, Atletico seems to be in the leading position to get the 28-year-old player.
According to Colombian journalist Javier Hernandez Bonnet, negotiations between the two clubs for the former AS Monaco striker were going well. Even Bonnet considered James could be considered 80% of Atletico players.
‘If Real Madrid wants to get back some of their money, they have to close the deal. If they don’t do it between now and December, James will be a free agent,’ Bonnet told Blu Radio as reported by the US.
‘Real Madrid have to open the door for James. The same source who told us when he moved to Bayern Munich (as a loan player), said that the operation was 80% complete,’ Bonnet said.
According to Bonnet, James likes every aspect of his move, both from a sports and personal perspective.
This season, James has only played 13 matches in all competitions, eight as a starter. He scored one goal and made one assist. His last match in La Liga was on 19 October 2019.
Monday (05/11/2020), James returned to training with the Real Madrid squad, when Spanish football began to return from stopping due to the coronavirus pandemic.
