The second series of Formula One (F1) 2020 at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Austria, tomorrow is not just a hunt for 25 points for Lewis Hamilton. More than that, this race will be an opportunity for racers to make amends in the inaugural series and present a victory to the Mercedes Team AMG Petronas.

In the inaugural series at the Austrian GP, Hamilton actually appeared not too bad at the beginning of the race. He had the opportunity to reach the second podium under his colleague, Valtteri Bottas, who dominated the race. However, the defending world champion experienced a car bumping incident with Red Bull Racing driver Alexander Albon, who ultimately failed to finish the race.

The incident earned him a five-second penalty and forced him to settle for finishing in fourth. These results did not fail to make Hamilton feel very disappointed. The 35-year-old racer felt innocent of his nudge to the Albon car. According to him, it was purely a race that was difficult to predict on the track.

Even so, Hamilton considered undergoing the race is not too focused this year. Because he looks more campaigning for black anti-racism in F1. That’s what makes it fail to get good results in the series premiere. However, the racer, nicknamed the Billion Dollar Man, denied it and claimed to remain focused on targeting his seventh world title and equaled the record of the legendary F1’s Michael Schumacher.

‘You have seen that my race is quite strong. I do need to do a better job over the weekend, but I will not say disturbed in any way. I continue to focus as before. Stay focused on the fight and try to win this championship but also fight for equal rights,’ said Hamilton reported by Crash.

In addition to Hamilton, several other drivers also want to penetrate the failure in the first series, including Sebastian Vettel (Scuderia Ferrari), and Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing). Both of them get quite disappointing results. Verstappen had to bite his fingers to fail to finish the race after his car broke down on lap 11.

‘I can’t wait to race again on the same track this week. This will be an opportunity to understand cars are better. What was not perfect last week, can be improved this week,’ Verstappen said.

As for Vettel, his hopes for getting up are fairly small. Being able to compete in the top row will be difficult. Because some think that his team is not too serious in giving a strong car to F1 this year. This is associated with his separation with Ferrari at the end of this season.

However, Vettel still believes the results of the first race only finished in 10th position, could be material for him to improve performance in the second series later. Moreover, the Italian team has prepared the latest car package that should have been used in the third series at the Hungarian GP on 19 July. However, the team insisted on bringing as many elements as possible to Styrian GP, this weekend.

‘This will be a good indication for us to see whether it is the right direction for us or not,’ Vettel said. ‘I think this is a great opportunity for us to do the race in the same place. So, I hope we will get some answers,’ he said.
