Alex Marquez believes that the MotoGP race will be held this year. Therefore, MotoGP Rookie wants to make it an opportunity to show his expertise in driving RC213V. The reason is, it can be used as a benchmark whether Alex is still worthy of being a tandem to his biological brother Marc Marquez next year.
The Repsol Honda team is known to only provide a one-season contract for Alex. Obviously, that is a challenge that Moto2 world champions must face if they want to get their contract next year.
Alex was not afraid of the track record of Marc Marquez, who had collected six world titles in the elite class. Instead, he would rather take the opportunity to learn as much as possible from the 82-time GP winner.
‘Marc is the best teammate to learn something. He is an eight-time world champion and I have the advantage of seeing him every day at home. I can see how he practices,’ Alex was quoted as saying from Speedweek on Wednesday (5/27/2020).
At present, the MotoGP Grand Prix championship is still suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although there is a discourse that the first race will be held in mid-July, but so far there is no clarity when it will begin
Alex said as a beginner racer, of course, it’s not optimal to not be on the motor for so long. Therefore, he can not guarantee he will perform optimally when on the track.
‘Of course, the situation isn’t the best if you want to renew your contract, because you don’t have the chance to prove to yourself and the team what you can do. But we will see how it will turn out when we get back on track. It looks like this will happen at Jerez “We hope to race there on July 19,’ concluded Alex.
